X is for...(e)Xit

So I'm out of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. And don't get me wrong, I would have loved to go further in the competition, but I'm still very proud. For Ravensborough  to have gotten into the top 5% in its category has been a huge achievement for me. Now I just have to wait for my Publishers Weekly review and get my synopsis done for submitting it to potential publishers. I think I'll incorporate my pitch into my cover letter, it got through round one so I know it's fairly decent.

But the next week is aimed towards submitting Storms in Teacups. Which means writing another synopsis and doing another edit job.

Congratulations to everyone who progressed in the competition, it's a big achievement and you should be very proud of yourselves. :)

  1. I was just thinking the same thing--how I'm going to try to use my pitch in my query letter. I'm sorry you didn't make it to the next round; I got cut too. Still, it's been a positive experience and I hope the PW review is helpful to use in my query as well.

  4. Hi Christine, sorry you didn't advance. Also that I didn't advance. That's great it isn't bumming you out. I think I'm virtually bulletproof when it come to rejection -- professional or personal. I just figure everyone has different tastes. And my work was the best I knew how to make it at the time. So I have no regrets. I'm still going out for pasta/pizza with friends for dinner! Condolence comfort food.

  5. I'm so bummed that you didn't make it. Same for Jeana and Dwight. I didn't make it either - it seemed like it was too much to hope for. Good luck with the querying! I'm looking forward to your "Y" is for Yes post.

  7. Congrats on getting that far, though, that's awesome. Are you going straight to a publisher or seeking an agent first?

  8. Congrats on making it so far, that's a real achievement! And I think it's excellent that you're taking it all very positively. Writers need thick skins to get by in the world of publishing. I'm dreading sending out queries. *shudder*

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
